1er Jour : Winchester
We left Valenciennes bright and early. Some of the children slept, most were too excited.
Ferry and full English breakfast then coach to Winchester to admire King Arthur's Round Table in the Great Hall. The table dates from the 13th century, but the painting of Arthur and his knights was added in the Tudor period : note the Tudor red and white rose and a King Arthur who looks suspisciously like Henry VIII ! We arrived safely in Weston, where your young ones are with their host families before a busy day tomorrow - Glastonbury Abbey and the Roman Baths.
Donc ...Départ sans souci, traversée de la Manche en bâteau.
Première vue de l'Angleterre : les fameuses falaises blanches de Douvres (qui ont donné le nom latin du pays Albion).
Cap vers Winchester pour admirer la Table Ronde du roi Arthur, table médiévale revisitée en peinture à la Renaissance.
Les enfants sont maintenant installés dans les familles d'accueil à Weston et attendons avec impatience les visites de demain à Glastonbury Abbey et the Roman Baths.
