2ème Jour : Glastonbury et Bath
We left Weston under sunny skies, we've been lucky with the weather so far, even if rain is forecast for the middle of the week. Glastonbury, sleepy village about 30 miles from our base camp, a village which wakes up in a big way to a major rock festival every year AND more to our pedagogical point was the most important monastastic domain in England before Henry VIII dissolved and appropriated these properties in 1539, having hung drawn and quartered the last Abbot au passage. Guided tour by a monk and a nun (actually retured history teachers in disguise!) with a questonnaire for the group in English. WIth a relay race in the grounds to finish up after lunch. Not historical but necessary - the group is full of beans as we know. End of afternoon in Bath, spa town frequented by Jane Austen and famous for the best preserved Roman baths in the world, one of the highlights of our trip. Home again to the host families who will look after your children tomorrow, before our day of coal mines and rugby stadia in Cardiff on Monday. Bonne nuit, hope you are not missing your children too much; we're keeping them busy and happy we hope.
